Franklin Public Library Homebound Delivery Policyhomebound delivery franklin library

Can’t make it to the library? Let us bring the library to your door. Home Delivery Service ensures that Franklin residents who are unable to visit the library due to aging-related limitations, illness, disability, or temporary mobility limitations can continue to benefit from library resources. Items will be delivered to and picked up from a homebound patron’s home by staff members approximately every three weeks.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Service is available to residents of Franklin who are unable to visit the library in person.

  • Complete a Homebound Delivery Patron Enrollment form.

  • Have a viable means of contact: phone and/ or email.

  • Have a valid Minuteman library card (if needed, library staff will help with library card registration before the first delivery).

  • Provide a safe and appropriate environment outside of their home (porch, stoop, etc.) or in a group living apartment entryway to deliver items.

Registration

To get started, you need to complete the Home Delivery Patron Enrollment Form, and provide your library card number. If you do not have a valid Franklin Library Card, you will also need to complete a Library Card Registration Form or contact the library for assistance.

  • The application requests information about reading preferences and format needs (large print, audiobooks, DVDs). You may also list favorite authors or titles for read-a-likes.

  • Patrons must notify the library of any changes in eligibility, address, or contact information.

Loan Periods and Fees

  • Materials are loaned for 3 weeks.

  • Homebound Delivery Service is fine-free. However, patrons are responsible for lost or damaged items and will be billed for replacement costs.

  • Items borrowed through inter-library loan are subject to the owning library’s borrowing rules and loan periods.
